Nutrition
If there’s a foundation upon which longevity rests, nutrition is among the top most. It’s like the old adage: you are what you eat. To begin, I recommend magnesium & vitamin D supplements for a couple of reasons:

Most people are deficient in both magnesium and Vitamin D. Magnesium is involved in >> 300 enzymatic reactions in our bodies making it a real workhorse and Vitamin D deficiency is tied closely to health of our immune system, bone strength, muscle and brain health (Ref: Mo Med. 2021 Jan-Feb;118(1):68-73. PMID: 33551489; PMCID: PMC7861592). There are loads of magnesium supplements out there. The ones most people need are magnesium glycinate (one of the most commonly used and gentlest) for calming effects (sleep problems), relaxing muscle cramps, soothing effects on stress, anxiety, feeling ‘wired’. Magnesium citrate is also another commonly used one for those with constipation. I provide options here that cover both basis and then some.
As for Vitamin D, did you know that the average US adult only has about ~25–30 ng/mL circulating levels? (Reference: Nutrients 2024, https://doi.org/10.3390/nu16193414). This is basically “insufficient” levels: 40–60 ng/mL → is often considered a functional optimal range especially relevant for fall prevention, muscle strength, immune resilience, inflammation control. One of the best sources of Vitamin D is the sun!! We need to balance sun exposure against too much UV radiation, for certain. Check with your physician always, esp if you have skin conditions. An alternative is taking Vit D supplements. I’m in that camp.
Multi-vitamins: products are recommended here. Always good to supplement what you may miss out on thru diet and lifestyle factors.
Water purifiers: there’s been increasing press around microplastics all around us, including ubiquitous water sources. To think that drinking water from a plastic bottle was doing good! Now we are learning the very plastic could be leaching out and into the water we drink. Microplastics literally are microscopic levels (about 5mm) of plastics. There’s evidence that it accumulates in the human body! (reference: 2024, PMID: 39018010) and can modulate our cardiovascular, immune and reproductive systems (reference: 2025 https://doi.org/10.1038/s41591-025-03902-5). We need more studies to determine if there’s causality between microplastics and diseases, but why wait? It does not sound normal to have plastic within us. Take a look at some of the recommended water filter options and for those more eager, check out some reverse osmosis options. Make sure that re-mineralization options are available as reverse osmosis, while “clean”, could strip out healthy water-based minerals we depend on such as calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium and bicarbonate.
